Elastic Hair Ties (On the Cheap!)

For a few months, I have noticed lots and lots of people talking about elastic hair ties that wouldn’t rip your hair.  Given that my hair is so thick, curly, and crazy that I look like I put my finger in an electric socket, I was all ears.

Number one thick hair problem for me = breaking my elastic bands.

Number two thick hair problem = the dent elastic bands leave in my hair.

Any product that solves both of these problems = worth its weight in gold.

And gold it was – or should have been based on the price at Anthro. ($12 for a pack of 4!!!!), but I splurged and tried them and fell in love.

I considered giving up my coffee habit for a hairband habit, until I saw this tutorial on Julep and realized I could have both.

With enough elastic from Elastic House to make hair ties for the next year ($5.99 for 10 yards!), I got to work.  Elastic House offered a huge variety of colors and had the fastest shipping that I have ever experienced.

I cut 9 inch segments of elastic, folded them in half, and tied a knot.  Um, yep that’s it.

Aren’t they cute?!?!?

  3. I have to laugh, because I have super thick hair too and people always look at me like I’m insane for complaining about it. You know, the whole “grass is always greener” thing. This is a great idea!

  11. These might just be the best answer to the scrunchie trend. I used to make them for my friends in middle school. But these would be so much better and great gifts for girls to give each other. Definitely checking out Elastic House!
